Database Developer
Kraków
Responsibilities:
- Scalability – planning for projected future storage and CPU requirements throughout the data base lifetime
- User/Security Management – enforcing system security / user policies – controlling and monitoring database access
- Monitoring and optimizing database performance on an ongoing basis
- Backup/Recovery management and testing
- Providing technical support/guidance to software developers
Requirements:
- Detailed knowledge of core database design concepts – ideally with Relational Database Management Systems (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL etc). A knowledge of NoSQL databases is also desirable
- Ability to design new database schemas to support application requirements
- Ability to analyse existing database schemas and typical client/server behaviour – providing (where appropriate) recommendations to optimise database structure and improve overall performance (either through schema restructuring, query optimisation, or a combination of both). Solid understanding of indexes, index management, statistics generation etc.
- Ability to monitor, analyse and troubleshoot database integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, connectivity and security issues
- Familiarity with underlying operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux)
- Familiarity with distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server, Internet/Intranet, Enterprise
- With specific reference to MySQL, it would be desirable if the applicant had a working knowledge of Clustering, Replication, Mirroring, and Sharding concepts and implementation.
- Competent SQL Developer – solid understanding of SQL and Stored Procedures.
